WORLD OF DEATH EP4 – “Marsupials” / “Dead Crossing”
After reading the comments on episode 3 I am pleased to see that it looks to be our best received episode to date. World of Death has been live for two weeks now and I can happily say that we’re off to a solid start! People’s opinions stretch from one side of the spectrum to the next, but overall it looks like everyone has found enjoyment out of one or more WOD short film. But for those of you in the audience who are looking for something specific, let us know what it is! With over 250 short films to currently choose from, and an ever-growing catalog, there truly is something for every horror fan in World of Death. And if you don’t see something you like, go out and make a short horror film and submit it to be a part of WOD. I receive new submissions on a daily basis and would love to see people create new movies inspired by the creation of our World of Death community.
Remember, World of Death is a forum for independent filmmakers, whether they’re new to the game or seasoned professionals, to showcase their creativity. You never know which WOD’er will be tomorrow’s James Wan, Ti West, or Fede Alvarez. So continue to watch, support, and enjoy all that World of Death has to offer.
If you read my post about episode 3 you will know how excited I am about presenting episode 4 to horror fans out there. First up, we have “Marsupials”, an animated short helmed by Australian Nathan Armstrong. This is quite possibly the most fucked up cartoon I’ve ever seen and am damn proud to include it in WOD. You’ve never seen the Outback portrayed like this!
Second up is “Dead Crossing”, the first short film from rising star Gigi Saul Guerrero. Gigi’s Luchagore team wowed audiences around the festival circuit last year with their tremendous short film “El Gigante”, which helped line up a feature project they are currently working on. A mover and a shaker, Gigi is certainly a horror director to keep an eye on folks, but for right now, check out her early work to see where it all started.
World of Death is the web series that fans of independent horror have been waiting for. Featuring short horror films from all over the globe created by the largest variety of talent that a collection has ever been able to boast, WOD provides plenty of blood, guts, screams and laughs for all fans of the macabre. And with episodes averaging around eight minutes in length, WOD is the perfect entertainment for a fan base constantly on the go. Watch it anywhere, at any time, for FREE! New episodes premiere every Monday and Thursday at 7pm CST.

‘Mockbuster’ Exclusive Clip Reveals the Chaos of Making a Dinosaur Movie For The Asylum
Out today in select theaters and on digital platforms is heartfelt and playful documentary Mockbuster, which sees a director cold call a studio and ask to helm a lost-world dinosaur epic.
Inexplicably, they say yes.
Our exclusive clip below highlights both the comedic nature of this bizarre scenario as well as the pressures of shooting dino feature The Land That Time Forgot in a mere six days, with no real feature experience.
A dino attack scene causes friction on set in this scene.
In the documentary, “A struggling filmmaker’s opportunity collides with chaos and compromise when Sharknado’s notorious studio, The Asylum, invites him to direct a ‘mockbuster.’ With six days, a micro budget, and mounting pressure, Mockbuster is a comedic, behind-the-scenes documentary exploring the balance between low-budget filmmaking and creative ambition.”
More than just an inside look at filmmaking via low-budget film studio The Asylum, it doubles as one man’s pursuit of his dreams to charming, humorous effect.
“Mockbuster is a documentary about my own journey, but it’s also a love letter to one of the last grindhouses still functioning in Hollywood. We get to meet the characters and creators of some of the most infamous (and most hated) B-movies of the last few decades. People who make movies purely for profit – no pretension, no artistry, just monsters, C-listers, and chaos. A film that both genre fans and cinephiles can enjoy. But Mockbuster isn’t just about filmmaking, it’s about losing sight of your dreams, and reclaiming them in your own twisted way,” Director Anthony Frith said in a statement.
From Executive Producer and famed documentarian David Farrier, Mockbuster opens in select theaters and on digital platforms beginning July 10.
