David Robert Mitchell’s ‘Under the Silver Lake’ Adds Several More New Faces

After the widespread critical acclaim of It Follows, it only makes sense that a lot of eyes are on director David Robert Mitchell and his next film Under the Silver Lake, which is said to be a modern-day noir crime thriller set in Los Angeles.

Already announced to be on board for the film are Andrew Garfield, Dakota Johnson and Topher Grace. Now, Deadline is reporting that Zosia Mamet (The Kids Are All Right), Jimmi Simpson (“Westworld”, Zodiac), Patrick Fischler (“Lost”, Mulholland Drive), and Luke Baines (The Girl in the Photographs, As Night Comes) have joined the cast while THR adds Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road, It Comes at Night) to the film.

The film centers on a man who becomes obsessed with the strange circumstances of a billionaire mogul’s murder and the kidnapping of a girl.

Michael De Luca, Chris Bender, Jake Weiner, and Adele Romanski will all be acting as producers.

‘Drop’ – Violett Beane Joins the Cast of Christopher Landon’s New Thriller

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
