New ‘Kong: Skull Island’ Trailer Changes the Tone…a Lot

Kong: Skull Island

The new trailer for Kong: Skull Island is here and it brings a TON of new footage, reveals new plot points, and it also radically changes the tone of the film. The first trailer felt epic and grand. There was a serious attitude about it that felt gritty yet also rooted in realism. While there is still a very ambitious and monumental feel about this second trailer, it shifts from the serious tone we’ve seen so far into something far more lighthearted, especially thanks to the introduction of John C. Reilly’s character. Still, there’s a lot to love and to be excited about. The extra animals and insects look massive and I’m honestly reminded of Shadow of the Colossus in terms of the scale. I was in before and I’m still ready to hail the king!

A diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific – as beautiful as it is treacherous – unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

Kong: Skull Island features Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Wilkinson, Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, Thomas Mann and John Ortiz.

The films opens in theaters on March 10th, 2017, followed by Godzilla 2, which is being directed by Michael Dougherty, on March 22, 2019, and Godzilla vs. Kong on May 29, 2020.
