There’s good news with both the Alien and Starship Troopers franchises going on at the moment. The former has a new entry, Alien: Covenant, coming out on May 19th while the latter is getting a reboot from writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Freddy vs. Jason). If you’re a fan of either of these series, then hopefully you feel excitement and anticipation for what’s to come, which I know I’m feeling!
If you’d be so kind, please imagine for a moment, if you will, that there’s a weird plan for the two franchises to come together at some point, to have their distinct universes cross over, much like how Godzilla and King Kong will face off in 2020. Obviously there is nothing to suggest that this is happening, I just simply want you to envision such a collision.
Now that you’ve got that idea in your head, allow me to introduce you to artist Kory Lynn Hubbell, who is a concept artist at 343 Industries, the video game company behind several of the later Halo titles. Obviously, Hubbell has an exciting and fascinating imagination. He’s helped design the worlds of one of video games largest and most enduring franchises! But for a bit of fun, he turned his attention away from that world and decided to mash together the Xenomorph from Alien with the Arachnid from Starship Troopers, creating an enemy that neither Rico nor Ripley would probably EVER want to face!
You can see the piece below and you can see more of Hubbell’s work at his official website.
