Not only do we have some revealing images from the set of Ridley Scott’s Alien Covenant, but a massive casting bomb was just dropped over by our friends at AvP Galaxy.
James Franco, who also appeared in Fox’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, is set to make an appearance in the Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel set for release on May 19, 2017.
Franco will be appearing in Alien: Covenant as Branson, the captain of the Covenant and husband of Katherine Waterson’ Daniels, says the site. “Franco’s appearance in Alien: Covenant will only be brief, though. He appears in the first ten minutes or so of the film with later small appearances.” The add: “Franco will also be reprising the role as Branson in some of the viral footage that has been shot for Alien: Covenant.”
This reteams Franco with his comedy buddy, Danny McBride, as a member of the Covenant crew, which also consists of Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice, Jobs, The Babysitters), Demian Bichir, Alex England (Gods of Egypt), Billy Crudup, Amy Seimetz (A Horrible Way to Die, “The Killing”), Jussie Smollett (“Empire”), Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills).
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
