Artists can be kind of crazy. Charles Bukowski said “Find what you love, and let it kill you.” On this particularly quiet episode of World of Death, we follow some artists who found what they love, and are using it to kill others.
In Adam Berlingeri’s MAESTRO, a composer trying to obtain perfection out of his orchestra with Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake turns to an unusual and bloody method of motivating his musicians.
And then in Iván Gallegos’ MUSE, we contemplate how binding papier mache can be, while an artist takes his love of his muse to a whole new level.
Both of this week’s selections focus on imagery and music to set a mood, making these films feel a bit more like art themselves… and makes me a bit wary of the directors!
