This morning we threw some shade at this banner for Kong: Skull Island, which we felt misrepresented what we are being told the film is going to be. It’s not an ugly or bad piece of art per se, but it’s not what we want to see out of the new King Kong movie, one that looks like a 1970’s war movie.
Warner Bros. went from worst to first within a matter of hours, sharing this brand new poster that’s quite literally the most striking piece of art I’ve seen in a long time. It’s a move away from the melancholia piece from this morning, showing a raging Kong sizing up against a teeny-tiny toy helicopter. The coloring gives off the illusion that the world below is on fire, which may actually happen if the footage from the trailer proves true. Man, I hope I love this movie so I have an excuse to hang this on my wall…

Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ new origin film stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Wilkinson, Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, Thomas Mann and John Ortiz.
In the film: A diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific – as beautiful as it is treacherous – unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.
Skull Island opens in theaters on March 10th, 2017, followed by Godzilla 2, which is being directed by Michael Dougherty, on March 22, 2019, and Godzilla vs. Kong on May 29, 2020.
