Back in April of last year we exclusively reported that Austin Reading, former FEARnet Creative Director and “Death Valley” Executive Producer/Director, had made his directorial debut with Darkness Rising, and though it’s been a while, we’ve got an update for you today.
Via Screen Daily, Raven Banner Entertainment has launched international sales on the horror film at this weekend’s European Film Market. The film stars Katrina Law (“Arrow”) as the lone survivor of a family massacre who revisits her childhood home on the eve of its destruction.
As you might expect, chaos ensues.
Here’s the full plot rundown…
When Madison Shaw learns that her childhood home is about to be torn down, she has one last chance to confront the demons that drove her family away. Enlisting the help of her fiancé, Jake, and cousin, Izzy, they revisit the scene of the horrific nightmares Madison has been concealing from them. While the visit begins innocently enough, unsettling events build until the three find themselves trapped inside the house by forces beyond their comprehension
The cast also includes Bryce Johnson (Willow Creek, “Pretty Little Liars”), Tara Holt (“Californication,” “Ballers”) and horror legend Ted Raimi (Evil Dead, “Xena,” “Ash vs Evil Dead”).
The film was written by Vik Weet (Devil’s Pass, The Worthy), produced by Storyboard Entertainment’s Jason Potash and Paul Finkel, Compass Entertainment’s Marcus Dean Fuller and Julie S. Fuller, Daniel Hyman, and co-produced by Ruth Du and Harris Kauffman.
