On August 11th, we learn the real story behind Annabelle.
Reviews coming out of the L.A. Film Festival almost universally indicate that David F. Sandberg’s Annabelle: Creation has taken a page out of Ouija: Origin of Evil’s playbook in that it’s a superior sequel to a movie that most fans felt wasn’t very good. In fact, our own Kalyn Corrigan wrote in hers that it’s “a very welcome addition to The Conjuring universe.”
A new poster has been released that’s an instant classic, putting the Annabelle doll in the safest place of all, the Warren’s blessed glass case. The one-sheet calls back to The Conjuring where the doll made its first appearance and exclaims, “WARNING. Do Not Open.” Until Christmas?
In Annabelle: Creation, “Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.”

The full cast includes Stephanie Sigman (Spectre), Talitha Bateman (The 5th Wave), Lulu Wilson (Ouija 2), Philippa Anne Coulthard (After the Dark), Grace Fulton (Badland), Lou Lou Safran (The Choice), Samara Lee (The Last Witch Hunter), Tayler Buck, Anthony LaPaglia (TV’s Without a Trace) and Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy).
Sandberg directed from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman, who also wrote Annabelle.
