Seven years. Seven films. So many bodies.
Easily the biggest bummer of Jigsaw, now out in theaters, is that the film is surprisingly lacking in the gore department. The makeup effects team created some gruesomely realistic dummies for shots that show us the aftermath of the film’s traps, but throughout the movie, much of the brutality is uncharacteristically kept off screen.
More than anything, Jigsaw made me miss the crazy gore of the previous films.
The first seven Saw films are home to some of the most creative and brutal death sequences in horror history, of course set into motion by Rube Goldberg-style traps that made us wait for those blood-soaked money shots. As much as I hate the term, the franchise damn sure wore its “torture porn” stamp proudly on its sleeve.
With Jigsaw back in this year’s new sequel, revisit EVERY death scene from the previous seven Saw films… set to goofy music that you should probably mute before you play!
Or don’t. It’s kind of amusing.
