Tracking Board reported over the weekend that Netflix is nearing a deal to acquire Matthew Baker’s short story Life Sentence, which they plan on adapting into a film.
Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, War for the Planet of the Apes) is attached to produce.
“Life Sentence follows a criminal who decides to enroll in a futuristic program that erases his memories rather than go to jail, forcing him to reconcile his past actions and relationships.”
Apple was trying to get their hands on the rights to the short story, with plans to turn it into a TV series. Baker, however, was more interested in a feature film.
