It Follows director David Robert Mitchell is following up his indie horror gem with Under the Silver Lake, a modern-day noir crime thriller set in Los Angeles that has Andrew Garfield in the lead role.
A24 shared the trailer today for Under the Silver Lake, which will debut in select New York and Los Angeles theaters June 22, to then be followed by a nationwide expansion.
Centering on a man (Garfield) who becomes obsessed with the strange circumstances of a billionaire mogul’s murder and the kidnapping of a girl, the footage looks heavily inspired by Adam Wingard’s filmography with the quirkiness of a Bret Easton Ellis or Shane Black story.
“Sam (Andrew Garfield) is a disenchanted 33-year-old who discovers a mysterious woman, Sarah (Riley Keough), frolicking in his apartment’s swimming pool. When she vanishes, Sam embarks on a surreal quest across Los Angeles to decode the secret behind her disappearance, leading him into the murkiest depths of mystery, scandal, and conspiracy in the City of Angels.“
Riley Keough and Topher Grace also star. Mitchell wrote the script, and Disasterpeace (It Follows) handled the score.
