Upcoming Throwback Slasher ‘Splatter Camp’ Will Film at ‘Jason Lives’ Campground

Each of the Friday the 13th films, even when taking place at the same fictional locations, were actually filmed in different places entirely, and it was Rutledge, Georgia’s real-life Camp Daniel Morgan that played the role of Camp Crystal Lake in Jason Lives.

Or Camp Forest Green, I should say.

Now, over 30 years later, a group of Friday fans are setting out to make their own retro-styler slasher film, Splatter Camp, and they’re headed to Camp Daniel Morgan!

Tentatively set for release in Summer 2019, Brandon Tobatto’s Splatter Camp is currently being fan-funded over on Kickstarter, billed as a love letter to ’80s slashers.

“Splatter Camp is a full-length feature film that tells the story of a group of young filmmakers who, while filming a documentary at the long since closed CAMP CANDY, discover that the legend of SCARY LARRY may be more than just fiction when a string of murders start picking them off, one-by-one.

Things only worsen for the survivors when distrust begins to tear them apart, for how could Scary Larry be real? Is this killer the authentic package? Could it actually be the groundskeeper? Or, has the so-called masked madman been residing among the members of the group all along, posing as one of the helpless survivors?”

Tobatto is seeking $10,000 to make Splatter Camp bigger and better, but he assures that the primarily self-funded film will be made and released regardless of the fund.
