Halle Berry Eyeing Starring Role in Remake of 1985 Thriller ‘Jagged Edge’

The most notable thing about the 1985 thriller Jagged Edge, written by Joe Eszterhas and directed by Richard Marquand, is that it actually had a presence at the following year’s Academy Awards, as star Robert Loggia earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The film, which also starred Jeff Bridges and Glenn Close, is getting a remake.

Deadline reports that Sony Pictures is developing a new take on Jagged Edge, which is being conceived as a star vehicle for Halle Berry.

The site notes, “The project is a priority and the studio has begun the search for the right writer to draft the new version.”

In the original film, “San Francisco heiress Page Forrester is brutally murdered in her remote beach house. Her husband Jack is devastated by the crime but soon finds himself accused of her murder. He hires lawyer Teddy Barnes to defend him, despite the fact she hasn’t handled a criminal case for many years. There’s a certain chemistry between them and Teddy soon finds herself defending the man she loves.”

Matti Leshem and Doug Belgrad will produce.
