‘Braid’ Clip Serves Up Some Role Playing [Tribeca]

Published

Last week we told you about Mitzi Peirone‘s under-the-radar psycho-horror Braid, a mindfuck of a movie about two wanted women who decide to rob their wealthy psychotic friend who lives in the fantasy world they created as children. Starring Madeline Brewer, Imogen Waterhouse, and Sarah Hay,  in order to take the money, they have to take part in a deadly perverse game of make-believe. In this clip, the trio enter into a round of role-playing in this Tribeca Film Festival title looking for distribution.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Braid follows Petula Thames (Imogen Waterhouse) and Tilda Darlings (Sarah Hay), two self-proclaimed artists turned dealers on the run. After mishandling thousands of dollars in narcotics, the girls are given forty-eight hours to repay their vengeful drug lord. Fleeing town, they head to the desolate mansion of wealthy childhood friend, Daphne Peters (Madeline Brewer), with their sights set on house’s safe. Daphne, living secluded in the manor, has grown into a dangerous schizophrenic and prisoner of the fantasy world the three created as children. To abscond with her money, the girls are forced to take part in Daphne’s twisted, bloody game of make-believe, a demented maze of hallucinations, role play, torture…and murder.”

Directed by award-winning screenwriter, director, model, and painter, Mitzi Peirone, who was the youngest filmmaker selected for the 2013 Dogfish Accelerator program. Mitzi’s first directorial effort premiered at Art Basel 2015 and won Indiewire Project of the Week (Braid concept teaser). “Through her work, Peirone strives to depict reality as an infinite extension of the human consciousness,” explains the Tribeca site.
