Fede Alvarez Asked Fans If They Want ‘Evil Dead 2’ or ‘Don’t Breathe 2’ and ‘Evil Dead 2’ Was the Decisive Winner
With “Ash vs. Evil Dead” over and Bruce Campbell retired as Ash, it would seem that now is the perfect time for a sequel to the 2013 version of Evil Dead to finally get off the ground. After all, fans (myself included) have been begging for it for several years now, and Jane Levy’s Mia is a great character worth seeing more of.
It was Fede Alvarez who directed both Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, and Alvarez tweeted out an interesting poll over the weekend. Alvarez asked horror fans if they’d rather see Evil Dead 2 or Don’t Breathe 2, two sequels he’s expressed interest in directing in the past, and Evil Dead 2 emphatically won the poll with 70% of the votes.
Now what does this mean? Well, not necessarily much of anything at this point in time. For all we know, Alvarez is just having a little fun here, so we’re not going to sit here and pretend that he just confirmed Evil Dead 2 is happening (…as much as we’d love to).
That being said, it seems likely that Alvarez was *at least* trying to gauge what horror fans are hungry for from him; the fact that Evil Dead 2 so decisively won just might lead Alvarez to get serious about it. Again, now is kinda the perfect time to bring Mia back…
Ok time to ask this. What should I do?
