Grab Some Cotton Candy, Cinepocalypse is Closing Out Their Festival with ‘Killer Klowns From Outer Space’s 30th Anniversary Celebration!

The Cinepocalypse team (including myself!) have programmed the living shit out of next month’s genre festival that will take place June 21-28 at the famous Music Box Theater.  We’ve jam-packed the event with nine world premieres, including Orion Classics’ post-apocalyptic return with The Domestics. There are several repertory screenings, including Bound with director Lana Wachowski, Judgment Night with Stephen Hopkins, and Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight with Ernest R. Dickerson.

Another major reveal comes with the promise of popcorn and cotton candy. Cinepocalypse will be partaking in the 30th Anniversary Celebration of Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988) with the Chiodo Brothers in attendance!

When you think of cult cinema in its purest, most deviant form, a handful of titles spring to mind, but few are as beautiful, nostalgic, bizarre, and iconic as the Chiodo Brothers 1988 feature debut, KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE. Simply put, this is one of our favorite films of all time, and if you’ve seen it, then this tale of a small town invaded by murderous aliens that just happen to look like clowns is likely high on your list as well. Using a twisted blend of ’50s-style monster movies, dark humor, and some truly creative, colorful ways to die, the film solidifies the idea that clowns should be feared and that ice cream trucks will always be the first line of defense against alien invasion. Do not miss your chance to see this legendary work with an audience!

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”
