Alleged ‘Zombieland’ Sequel Test Screening Canceled

Published

on

This morning we told you about an alleged test screening for Zombieland 2: Double Tap, which was to take place tomorrow, June 6th in California. Now, after a few hours gaining traction online, the screening has been canceled, a Bloody Disgusting user (thanks, Chris) tells us. We were sent a screen grab of the cancelation, which rocked the title and location of the screening: Edwards Long Beach Stadium 26 & IMAX in Long Beach, which is a frequent to studio test screenings (it’s where I saw Friday the 13th). The timing of the cancelation is suspicious, although we still haven’t confirmed the validity of the screening (I can’t get the theater on the phone) or that the sequel was actually filmed in secret. With that said, I did stumble across some super bizarre eBay listings that are selling tickets to the test screening. They may want to cancel those…

We’ve been talking about a sequel to Zombieland since the first double tapped the hearts of zombie fans back in 2009. Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool) have been our main source of recent information on the project, and have openly expressed that a followup would eventually happen (possibly in 2019, for the 10th anniversary) with Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin all returning.

Stay tuned. Let’s see what happens next…

Sleepy Hollow movie

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
