It’s that time again! Nightmares Film Festival (Oct. 18 to 21) has reared its head once more with another “Early 13” selections to announce to the world. For the third year in a row, NFF ’18 is primed to deliver a smorgasbord of wild new indie horror to Ohio and based on this initial announcement, it’s off to a killer start! Festival passes are still available while they last at www.gatewayfilmcenter.org/NFF.

The Bad Man is the latest from writer/director Scott Schirmer (Found, Headless). This disturbing tale of kidnapping, torture, and terror sees a couple abducted by a sadistic clown intent on breaking their humanity. It stars Ellie Church (Frankenstein Created Bikers), Arthur Cullipher (Space Babes from Outer Space), Jason Crowe (Harvest Lake), and Dave Parker (Plank Face). (World Premiere)

Beats of Rage is the long-awaited sequel to Jason Trost’s 2011 cult hit, The FP. Heroes JTRO (Trost) and KCDC (Art Hsu) return to save their ravaged world again by once more competing in the blood sport Beat-Beat Revelation. ‘Nuff said!

Confessions of a Serial Killer, a nearly lost 1985 gem, has finally been released from Roger Corman’s vault and restored to its director’s preferred version. Loosely based on real-life murderer Henry Lee Lucas, this twisted tale sees famed art director Robert A. Burns (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Re-Animator) give a chilling turn as the titular fiend.

The Final Interview is a thriller about a desperate news anchor seeking to boost his failing ratings by conversing with a notorious serial killer. As you can imagine, things don’t go exactly as planned. Hailing from writer/director Fred Vogel (August Underground) and writer Scott Swan (“Masters of Horror”), it stars Grainger Hines (“The Knick”) and Diane Franklin (Amityville II: The Possession), among others. (World Premiere)

Skeletons in the Closet is an ‘80s throwback anthology from the minds of B.A. Lewandowski (Starts Friday) and our very own Tony Wash (The Rake)! That’s right! Mr. “World of Death” himself is unleashing a brand new horror anthology upon the Earth at Nightmares Film Festival 2018! (World Premiere)

NFF 2018’s Early 13 is rounded out by a wild assortment of short films. Craving some franchise action? Look no further, as the Roache-Turner’s TV series prelude Wyrmwood: Chronicles of the Dead and beloved Friday the 13th fan film Never Hike Alone will both be screening at the festival. As will the latest short from the directors of Wither and Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, Mystery Box.

Still hungry? Why wait. Grab some Stephen King with a short film adaptation of the maestro horrifying tale, I Am the Doorway. Finalizing the “Early 13” are A Death Story Called Girl, Masks, and Offerings. The latter will actually be accompanied by live music in the theater, which is always fun! Lastly, there’s a new short from NFF returnee Aaron Immediato, Bathroom Troll. All in all, this looks like a great start to what will undoubtedly be another fun, horror-filled time at Columbus’ Gateway Film Center. Hope to see you there!
