Jason Blum Says Chances Are “Excellent” That Blumhouse Will Pick Up Other Horror Franchises

Producer Jason Blum has spent much of the night doing a Q&A with fans over on Twitter (@Jason_Blum), and not surprisingly, many of the questions were in regards to his Blumhouse potentially acquiring horror franchises to bring back to life. After all, it’s Blumhouse that is behind this year’s Halloween, and they’ve sure got the money to snag more.

In various tweets, Blum expressed interested in grabbing Friday the 13th, Scream, Alien and even The Crow, and he noted to one fan that the chances are “excellent” that Blumhouse will eventually add to its roster of horror franchises by scooping up another like Halloween.

Mind you, this is all talk and nothing more at this point, but Blum did stress several times that he’s worked hard at getting the Friday the 13th rights, in particular. At this time, there’s not much he can really do on that front, as the rights are currently tied up in a legal mess.

On an interesting related note, Blum noted during the Q&A that he turned down the chance to bring The Blob back to the big screen. At one point, he tried getting the rights to Christine!
