While originally slated for release this coming November, Sony Screen Gems has shifted the previously untitled James Gunn-produced horror film BrightBurn to May 24, 2019.
Seemingly related, we learned earlier this year that Gunn was producing an untitled horror film to be directed by David Yarovesky (The Hive), which *could* be the very same project he was set to reveal at SDCC. That film has Elizabeth Banks (pictured in Gunn’s SLiTHER) attached to star, with the script penned by Brian and Mark Gunn.
James Gunn had announced six months ago, “About a year ago my brother Brian, my cousin Mark, director David Yarovesky, producer Simon Hatt and I started coming up with an idea for a horror film that excited me in a way nothing outside of Guardians has in years – it was personal, and different, and perfectly suited for our times. And, yes, terrifying.”
