In its first weekend alone, David Gordon Green’s Halloween carved up $77.5 million domestically and $91.8 million worldwide, becoming the franchise’s biggest opening to date as well as the 2nd highest October opening of all time, for any movie. Not surprisingly, as the film heads into its second weekend, it has now crossed $100 million worldwide!
As of today, Halloween has thus far scared up $103,081,717 at the worldwide box office, with $87,213,220 of that made domestically here in the United States.
Now here’s the crazy thing. Not only does the buzz for the film continue to be super strong as well as incredibly positive, with many fans vowing to return to theaters this weekend to experience the 40-years-later battle between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers for a second time, but this weekend will also see Halloween released into IMAX theaters for a limited time!
Beginning Friday, Halloween goes big in the IMAX format for one week only, and that additional theatrical roll-out is guaranteed to considerably jack up the film’s already massive gross.
