John Carpenter’s Halloween is often given the credit for kick-starting the slasher movement that was brought into the 1980s by the much gorier Friday the 13th, but it was Bob Clark’s Black Christmas that directly paved the way for Carpenter’s masterpiece of terror. And if you’re asking me, the original Black Christmas is every bit as good as Halloween.
(The remake is a fun time in its own way, but that’s a different story.)
