After 10 years of occupation, some chose cooperation. Others chose resistance.

Aliens have taken over in Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt‘s Captive State, which was originally set for release this year but was bumped back to early 2019.

John Goodman and Vera Farmiga star in the sci-fi film, which gets a full official trailer today. This one looks to be the sort of original sci-fi/horror we’re always craving, feeling like a mix between They Live, The Purge and Cloverfield. We are so on board this particular ship.

Set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extraterrestrial force…

“Captive State explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.”

Wyatt also co-wrote the original screenplay with Erica Beeney. The cast also features Ashton Sanders (Moonlight) and Jonathan Majors.

Focus Features will release Captive State in U.S. theaters on March 29, 2019.
