Todd McFarlane took part in an Ask-Me-Anything session over on Reddit last night, and naturally, many of the questions were in regards to the upcoming feature film reboot of Spawn that McFarlane himself has written and will be directing. McFarlane has talked a lot about the project throughout this year, promising a dark horror film that will truly scare us all.
During the chat, McFarlane revealed some other little tidbits about the movie. For starters, though the film will primarily center on Detective Twitch’s pursuit of Spawn (McFarlane had recently described their relationship as being quite like Brody and the shark’s relationship in Jaws), the character of Sam (Twitch’s partner) will *not* be included in the new movie.
On a similar note, evil clown Violator (played by John Leguizamo in the 1997 film adaptation of McFarlane’s comic books) will also not be part of this particular movie.
McFarlane also confirmed that the upcoming movie will not be wasting time on the title character’s origin story, as that’d only “Eat away time to do cool stuff.”
So how’s the new movie coming along? McFarlane updated, “Slooooooooooow. Hollywood is a funny little town.”
Oscar winner Jamie Foxx will star as the title character, being designed by “The Walking Dead’s” Greg Nicotero. Also starring is Jeremy Renner, in the role of Twitch.
