We found two possible genre titles hiding deep within Sundance Film Festival’s massive lineup beginning with the Australian Judy and Punch, which will premiere as part of the World Cinema Dramatic competition.
Mirrah Foulkes makes her feature debut with the film, which stars Mia Wasikowska and Damon Herriman as successful puppeteers, Judy and Punch.
“After a violent altercation where Punch leaves Judy for dead, she plots her revenge.”
Foulkes’ short films include “Dumpy Goes To The Big Smoke” (2012), “Florence Has Left The Building” (2014) and “Trespass” (2016).
Also set to premiere is Kaiju Confidential, featuring artists Thomas O’Donnell, Ethan Shaftel, Piotr Karwas, and Raul Domingue.
“Grigon’s not the toughest beast on the block, but he’s certainly the most neurotic. When he discovers the legendary Mega-Hydra rampaging on his turf, it becomes a stand-off of passive-aggressive proportions.”
The cast includes “Workaholics'” Blake Anderson and “Mr. Show” and “BoJack Horseman’s” Paul F. Tompkins.
