After having its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Neil Jordan (The Crying Game) will see his thriller Greta hit theaters March 1, 2019, from Focus Features.

We now have two clips from the film in which a young woman (Chloë Grace Moretz) befriends a lonely widow (Isabelle Huppert) who ends up being psycho. In the first clip, Moretz’s character stumbles upon a series of handbags that Huppert’s character has been using to lure young women into her home. The other (shared at the bottom of the article) takes place in a restaurant where Moretz’s character works and Huppert’s character verbally assaults her in front of everyone.

“A sweet, naïve young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City, Frances (Moretz) doesn’t think twice about returning the handbag she finds on the subway to its rightful owner. That owner is Greta (Huppert), an eccentric French piano teacher with a love for classical music and an aching loneliness. Having recently lost her mother, Frances quickly grows closer to widowed Greta. The two become fast friends — but Greta’s maternal charms begin to dissolve and grow increasingly disturbing as Frances discovers that nothing in Greta’s life is what it seems.”

Joe Lipsett reviewed the film out of its premiere at TIFF and said that it “falters by falling somewhere between thriller and high camp.”
