Published in 2014, Stephen King‘s novel Revival was already tapped for feature film adaptation by 2016, with Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars, The New Mutants) attached to write and direct. At one point, Russell Crowe was even attached to star, but nothing ever really became of the project.
Published in 2014, “the book follows a preacher who loses his faith when his wife and child are killed in an accident. He soon becomes obsessed in his experimentation into the healing power of electrical current, positioning him to act as God-like faith healer. Intertwined with the preacher is a young man with demons of his own, who has benefited from the preacher’s talents and becomes a reluctant accomplice to his deadly obsession.”
Early in the pre-production process, reader Neto Ribeiro tipped us off today, artist Vincent Chong had whipped up some concept art for Boone’s Revival, and several pieces of it are on display over on Chong’s website. The images were actually shared back in 2016 and 2017, but we hadn’t seen them until today – and we can be pretty sure that many of you guys haven’t either.
Chong wrote back in April 2016, “They are casting now for Revival and the movie should be shooting later this summer.” So much for that, eh?
