The Cleaning Lady’ Trailer Turns An Obsession into Terror [Exclusive]

Jon Knautz, who will best be remembered by horror fans for his ultra-fun Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer, as well as the excellent The Shrine, is returning to the genre with The Cleaning Lady, RLJE Films will release on DVD, Digital HD, and VOD platforms June 4th.  Bloody Disgusting has the exclusive trailer premiere for the film that turns an obsession into terror.

In the film:

On the surface, Alice seems like a woman who has it all: a gorgeous apartment, a booming career, a stunning physique, and a handsome boyfriend. The only problem is he’s married to someone else. Looking for a way to simplify her life, Alice hires Shelly to clean her house. As Alice begins to confide in Shelly about her illicit affair, their friendship grows… and so does Shelly’s twisted obsession with her new employer. It soon becomes clear that Shelly has motives that reach further than a normal cleaning lady. Shelly wants to cleanse Alice’s entire life and will stop at nothing until she’s done.

The Cleaning Lady will reteam Knautz with the star of his Goddess of LoveAlexis Kendra, as well as SAG-nominee Stelio Savante (Eisenstein in Guanajuato, Jo the Medicine Runner), Rachel Alig, and Elizabeth Sandy, who also appeared in Goddess of Love.

Dax Ebben reviewed the film out of its FrightFest World Premiere and wrote that the thriller is “twisted on every level.”

‘Drop’ – Violett Beane Joins the Cast of Christopher Landon’s New Thriller

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
