With Fox’s Dark Phoenix set to end the X-Men franchise until a future reboot, it’s not at all shocking that Disney has removed Gambit from their release schedule, which was originally set to open March 13, 2020.
With the already-filmed New Mutants being pushed all the way until next year (and likely eventually to be dumped onto Disney+ or Hulu), it seems unlikely that this film ever comes to fruition.
The last we had heard, Gambit was to star Channing Tatum as the title character with the actor even discussing the possibility of directing.
Gambit is the New Orleans-based mutant known for throwing cards and manipulating kinetic energy.
