Mondo’s 40th Anniversary ‘Alien’ Products Include One Hell of a Poster
This year’s “Alien Day” may have come and gone, but since it’s the 40th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s original classic, well, that basically just means that *every day* this year is “Alien Day”!
The 40th anniversary celebration continues this week with a batch of new Alien products from Mondo, including a killer new poster (with a variant) from Phantom City Creative.
Mondo announced today, “We are honored to celebrate Ridley Scott’s horror/science-fiction classic with a collection of posters, enamel pins, apparel, and vinyl. Phantom City Creative have deftly encapsulated the still terror the Nostromo crew encounter with this pair of posters. Joining these otherworldly screen prints is a brand new long-sleeve tee featuring art by Paige Reynolds – this rendition of the Xenomorph is full of depth, detail, and interstellar dread.”
“We are also pleased to present four enamel pins Mother would be proud to wear. Florian Bertmer has brought technical detail and pitch-perfect renderings to the forefront with his Kane and Chestburster pins, while Matt Taylor dives deeper into the franchise with a classic ALIEN versus PREDATOR pairing. No matter your fandom, there’s something for everyone in this expansive collection.”

John Carpenter Curates Two-Night Horror Programming Event For Turner Classic Movies This July
Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has announced its July programming highlights, which include a celebration of independent filmmaking and a special two-night genre event curated and co-hosted by horror legend John Carpenter.
In recognition of Independence Day, TCM Spotlight: American Independents “traces the evolution of American independent filmmaking through a collection of groundbreaking films made outside the traditional Hollywood studio system.”
This series highlights pioneering artists and maverick filmmakers who helped reshape the landscape of American cinema. Look for landmark works from Ida Lupino, Ed Wood, George A. Romero, John Waters, and David Lynch to be included in the roster of filmmakers spotlighted in the collection.
TCM also presents The Carpenter Zone this July, a two-night programming event curated and co-hosted by John Carpenter.
Instead of programming Carpenter’s films, though, the filmmaker is highlighting genre films that inspired his own works. The lineup includes The Quatermass Xperiment (1955), Them! (1954), It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958), The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), The Mummy (1959), and Curse of the Demon (1957).
Throughout the two-night event, Carpenter will share introductions and commentary on the films that helped shape his lifelong love of genre filmmaking.
Additional programming details, including daily schedules, are available at TCM.com.
