‘Halloween’ Update? Jason Blum “Discussing Stuff” with Jamie Lee Curtis

Published

on

We’re aware this post is a bit of a reach, but us Halloween fans are a rabid bunch.

Even before the 2018 David Gordon Green-directed “sequel” broke box office records, Bloody had reported that work had begun on not one, but two sequels. Part 2 was being fast-tracked at the time, although things have slowed a bit. The last we heard, Green and co-writer Danny McBride would not be returning for the story’s continuation.

And then, this past February, it was being reported that Scott Teems was in talks to pen the sequel’s script, “which will be based on a well-liked treatment Teems has already written for the company.” The site reporting the news had noted that Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak would all *likely* be returning for the sequel.

This is all important because, as of seven months ago, Curtis had expressed a desire to return if Green were to call her up and say, “Let’s do another Halloween.” A month later, she would be quoted as stating that she had not been contacted for another sequel (yet), but would return in the event that she was asked.

With a new writer and possible new director behind the camera, it was never certain that the sequel would continue the Strode family story (remember, the 2018 film told us that Michael Myers had nothing to do with the Strode family, even though it was all about the Strode family). No matter, we all love Jamie Lee Curtis and want to see her back as Laurie. She wants back. Maybe Blumhouse does too?

While the following tweet could mean absolutely nothing, we now know that Blumhouse’s Jason Blum recently met with Curtis to discuss “stuff”. What kind of stuff? Maybe the cool-ass NECA toy she’s holding? Maybe they talked about politics? Or maybe, just maybe, they were talking Halloween.

While we dig for more info, let the speculation begin….

‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ Heads Home to Digital Next Week

Published

Less than two months after releasing in theaters, where it has scared up $188 million at the box office, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is headed home next week, we’ve learned.

First reported by Ghostbusters News, Frozen Empire comes to Digital Tuesday, May 7.

In Gil Kenan’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level.

But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

The cast includes Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind, alongside Bill Murray, Finn Wolfhard, Ernie Hudson, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Annie Potts, Dan Aykroyd and Carrie Coon.

Jason Reitman, who directed Ghostbusters: Afterlife, is back to produce Frozen Empire.

Meagan wrote in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “Frozen Empire offers familiar set pieces, references, and easter eggs aplenty, but the nostalgia tank is now running on empty.”

“That may be enough for some, especially when Frozen Empire pulls out some deep-cut nods. But by the time the mid-credit scene kicks in, solely designed to inspire merchandising sales, it’s more likely to leave you ready for the Ghostbusters to retire in peace,” she adds.
