The ‘Oculus’ Mirror is Hidden in the Overlook Hotel in ‘Doctor Sleep’! [Exclusive]

Audiences got their first look at Doctor Sleep in today’s trailer premiere. The sequel to Stephen King’s “The Shining” and Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining – surprised us with new footage of The Overlook Hotel, a painstakingly recreated set that mirrors the haunted hallways of the original film.

But there’s one new element that writer/director Mike Flanagan slipped onto the set, and fans of his previous films know exactly what it is: the Lasser Glass, better known as the Oculus Mirror!

Flanagan’s early supernatural shocker Oculus (2013) told the story of a haunted mirror that gradually corrupted a seemingly normal family, leading them to violence and ruin. Flanagan has snuck the Oculus into most of his movies and TV shows. Eagle-eyed viewers can find it in the basement of Ouija: Origin of Evil, the headboard in Gerald’s Game, and the walls in The Haunting of Hill House.

And now… it’s in the Overlook Hotel.

Bloody-Disgusting caught up with Mike Flanagan after a press event for Doctor Sleep and asked the filmmaker whether he had once again found a place for his creepy good luck charm in his latest movie.

“I did,” Flanagan confirmed. “It was one of the first things that I had to think about, was where I could hide the Oculus mirror.”

“Because there was no way I was going to allow the Overlook to be rebuilt without having it on the wall somewhere,” he added.

We didn’t spy The Lasser Glass in the trailer for Doctor Sleep, but it’s in the movie somewhere, along with some other Easter eggs for observant horror fans.

Will you be the first person to find the Oculus mirror in Doctor Sleep? You can start looking when the film hits theaters on November 8, 2019!
