Filming kicks off soon on Jason Reitman‘s Ghostbusters, which we still know very little about at this point in time. What we do know is that it’s a sequel to the original classic, and that the original main cast sure as hell seems to be involved. But how exactly does it connect to the events of the ’84 film? In a clever way, Dan Aykroyd seems to suggest in a new chat.
Speaking with GameSpot, Aykroyd had this to say…
“Jason came up with this idea, which is just so good, everybody got it right away and understood. It will connect, better than anything, to the first movie.”
“That’s about all I can say about it, but the two movies will connect, in a way that hasn’t been done before.”

It has been rumored that newly-discovered footage from the original Ghostbusters will be incorporated into next year’s movie in some way, but we’ve had no confirmation on that.
The only 100% confirmed cast members so far are Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Carrie Coon and Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett, in a story that centers on a family that moves back home to a small town where they learn more about who they are.
Ghostbusters will return to theaters on July 10, 2020.
