It’s all happening so fast, but the next installment in the SAW franchise is gearing up to shoot next week with director Darren Lynn Bousman teasing the “reimagining” on Twitter:
Start shooting the new Saw film in just a few days. Something I never thought I be typing again! Gotta be honest. No one is ready for the insanity about to bleed out on screen!
— Darren_Bousman (@darren_bousman) June 25, 2019
Bousman, of course, took the reigns from creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell, who have since produced all sequels alongside Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures, and directed SAW II-IV. They have all partnered with award-winning actor, director, and stand up comedian Chris Rock to spin-off and expand the world surrounding the hit billion dollar franchise.
As Bloody Disgusting exclusively told you last year, the screenplay was written by Jigsaw writers Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, although we didn’t know it was – and I kid you not – based on a story conceived by Chris Rock, who will also star.
There’s still no word on if we’ll see Tobin Bell‘s Jigsaw in this new installment, which will be released on October 23, 2020.
