There was a bit of information missing from Universal Pictures’ announcement that David Gordon Green would return to direct Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends back-to-back (with a break between shoots). The press release included release dates, the writers and all of the producers – but it failed to mention Nick Castle or any of the other returning cast (although we know Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak are returning). It caused unnecessary speculation, which comes to an end with Castle tweeting confirmation that he’ll be pulling his mask on for the final two films in this story, which conclude on October 16, 2020, and October 15, 2021, respectively.
Castle also updated fans with news that James Jude Courtney will also return as Michael: “Big Game James still got the torch!” he tweeted out.
Gordon Green co-wrote the Halloween Kills script with Danny McBride and Scott Teems, and the Halloween Ends script with McBride, Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier.
As the title suggests, the third film is intended to be the end of the saga, which Green talked about earlier this week.
Carpenter is again involved, hopefully providing brand new scores for the films.
