While we all wish MGM had made a new live-action incarnation of The Addams Family, it’s not all that surprising that they’ve turned it into an animated kids movie, especially when you consider the monstrous worldwide success of Hotel Transylvania. Accepting the new film’s fate, the first two trailers look perfectly kooky, only they don’t really tell us much about the film’s actual plot – or conflict.
The international trailer for the film is vastly different, revealing that it’s not only about the Addams Family moving into a new town, but it’s actually a coming-of-age story in which Wednesday and her new friend struggle with their identity. Being that Wednesday is everyone’s favorite Addams, this is a much more exciting and interesting direction for this children’s horror film.
Charlize Theron voices Morticia Addams and Oscar Isaac is voicing Gomez Addams, with Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday Addams. The cast also includes Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley Addams, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Bette Midler as Grandmama, Allison Janney as Margaux Needler, and Elsie Fisher as Parker Needler, the daughter of Margaux.
