Horror icon James Wan, the filmmaker behind Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring, Aquaman, among many others, is teaming with Cheap Thrills and “Channel Zero: Dream Door” director E.L. Katz on a new infection thriller, Bloody Disgusting learned.
Wan’s Atomic Monster has acquired the rights to The Troop, a book by Nick Cutter in which a group of teens on a remote camping trip who must fend for themselves when their adult chaperone falls prey to an aggressive otherworldly infection.
Noah Gardner & Aidan Fitzgerald (The Trench) are penning the adaptation from Atomic Monster, JS Entertainment, and Starlight Media.
James Wan will produce through his Atomic Monster production company. Michael Clear will also serve as Producer with Judson Scott overseeing for the company.
Next up for Atomic Monster is The Conjuring 3, starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, which is set for release on September 11, 2020. The company is in pre-production with Mortal Kombat which is set for release on March 5, 2021; There’s Someone Inside Your House for Netflix; and the Untitled Atomic Monster Project to be directed by James Wan.
