It surely goes without saying at this point that nothing is going to be happening with the Friday the 13th franchise for quite a while still, as the brand is currently mired in legal troubles that have put a halt on everything from movies to video games and even action figures. But while we wait for something to give, it’s at least fun to think about what *could* be.
And who better to talk Friday‘s future than Kane Hodder? In a chat with ComicBook.com, the horror legend was asked what he would like to see from the next installment.
“I just think that when they do do a 13th one, it certainly couldn’t hurt to bring me back as Jason, unless it’s in 20 years, maybe,” Hodder told the site. “But it certainly couldn’t hurt the success of the movie, I don’t think, having the only person that’s played the role more than once to come back for the final one. I think that part would be interesting.”
Hodder continued, “But I’d like to see, if, in fact, they say this is the final one, I’d like to see some of the characters that survived come back, like Corey Feldman’s character (Tommy Jarvis), and somehow written into the story why they’re back. It could be an interesting storyline, having people that survived Jason come back. ‘Oh, I remember that girl’ or, ‘I remember that guy from previous movies and they never got killed.’ I think it could be an interesting storyline.”
“So many lifetime horror fans that have watched every Friday movie, I think it’d be fun for them to see faces they recognize,” the actor/stuntman added. “I really think it’d be an interesting way to bring the horror fans some kind of closure with this series to have me come back one more time and people that survived.”
Hodder’s suggestion would certainly be the utmost of fan service for the Friday the 13th community, and with Halloween recently returning to the original film’s continuity and bringing Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode, it’s certainly something that would seem to be on the table. Perhaps even Kevin Bacon could return, reprising his role from the original Friday?
We’re just saying, Jack always could’ve survived. He could still be out there…
