Quentin Dupieux’s ‘Mandibles’ is About an Enormous Fly!

Quentin Dupieux perfectly blended comedy and horror in both his debut film Rubber and last year’s Keep an Eye Out. With his latest, Deerskin, set to premiere at this month’s Toronto International Film Festival, he’s already set up his next genre offering, one that’s truly bizarre.

Bloody Disgusting learned that Dupieux will get back behind the camera for Mandibles, a film about an enormous fly.

“When simple-minded friends Jean-Gab and Manu find a giant fly trapped in the boot of a car, they decide to train it in the hope of making a ton of cash.”

“Giant” is a bit vague, but Dupieux is known to go full-on weird. The press release says the film is a “wild and surreal road movie” and “an utterly unique comedy” that’s about “friendship, big dreams and bigger disasters.”

Dupieux reteams with Keep en Eye Out actor Gregoire Ludig, with David Marsais, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Coralie Russier, Roméo Elvis, and India Hair.

Shooting is set to begin on September 16th with Wild Bunch and WTFilms backing the project.
