The gang’s all back in director Ruben Fleischer‘s return to the zombie apocalypse, this October’s Zombieland: Double Tap. The 10-years-later sequel is releasing on October 18, and Fleischer teases what’s in store in a new chat with Total Film (via Syfy Wire). Most notably, he hints at a special surprise at the end of the film – possibly a Bill Murray-esque cameo.
“I share that love of Bill Murray in the first one,” Fleischer told Total Film. He continued, “I don’t know how you could ever top that, but if someone were to stay to the finish of the film, perhaps they might see something a little special…”
Murray, of course, popped up for a hilarious surprise cameo in the first Zombieland, playing himself. Fleischer seems to be hinting that Double Tap will similarly feature a fun cameo.
Any guesses?!
Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin are all reprising their roles, with Zoey Deutch, Avan Jogia, Luke Wilson and Rosario Dawson joining them.
In this next installment, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, the zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.
The script is by the original film’s scribes, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, both of whom will also serve as exec producers. Gavin Polone is also returning to produce the film.
