Fresh off standout “Into the Dark” episode Culture Shock for Blumhouse and Hulu, Deadline reports today that Gigi Saul Guerrero has landed a new directing gig with Screen Gems.
Guerrero will direct an “untitled film based on the mythology of Santa Muerte.” Deadline notes, “The hope is to hatch a franchise for the Latin and global genre market.”
“Santa Muerte is an idol in Mexican folklore. A personification of death, she is associated with healing, protection and safe delivery to the afterlife by her devotees.”
