What if an app could tell you how long you’ve got left before you die? That’s the premise behind Justin Dec‘s new horror film Countdown, which STXfilms will release on October 25.
The titular “Countdown” app was of course made up for the movie, but after seeing the trailer, UK-based horror fan Ryan Boyling was inspired to actually create the app for real!
Like in the film, the app will provide a (fictional!) date and time of death.
The app has shot to the top of Apple’s app store where it sits at #1 on the Free Apps chart with 1.6 million downloads in 10 days. You can download it in the App Store today!
In Countdown, “When a young nurse (Elizabeth Lail) downloads an app that claims to predict exactly when a person is going to die, it tells her she only has three days to live. With time ticking away and death closing in, she must find a way to save her life before time runs out.”
Jordan Calloway, Talitha Bateman, Tichina Arnold, P.J. Byrne and Peter Facinelli also star.
