As I told you in my box office report, I expected MGM to move forward with a sequel to The Addams Family (read our review) after it opened to an impressive $35M domestically over this past 4-day holiday weekend. With a budget of only $25M, the animated reworking will have no problem recouping its investment, with the yet-to-be-reported international numbers acting as gravy.

Unsurprisingly, the studio has already set a sequel for release on October 22, 2021. Deadline first reported this date.

Starring in the film that acts as a prequel to “The Addams Family” and moves them into a new community, Charlize Theron voices Morticia Addams and Oscar Isaac is voicing Gomez Addams, with Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday Addams. The cast also includes Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley Addams, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Bette Midler as Grandmama, Allison Janney as Margaux Needler, and Elsie Fisher as Parker Needler, the daughter of Margaux.

One of the directors and voice actors, who brings to life the character of Lurch among others, is Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2, The Simpsons, Sausage Party, Madagascar 3, Ren and Stimpy), and we chatted with him in the latest episode of The Boo Crew. Listen below!
