Earlier this week, it was reported that the Marvel character Shriek has been incorporated into the plot of Venom 2. Now, Variety adds that Naomie Harris (28 Days Later, Frankenstein, Rampage) is in talks to play Spider-Man villain Shriek in Sony’s sequel, with Tom Hardy returning in the title role.
Deadline previously noted that the character’s history in the pages of Marvel Comics is as the sonic-powered accomplice and romantic interest of serial killer Cletus Kasaday, aka Carnage, the monstrous archenemy of Venom.
The addition of “She-Carnage” is interesting because Michelle Williams is returning in Venom 2 after making a brief appearance as “She-Venom”. Will the two do battle? You can read more about Shriek here.
Andy Serkis directs this time around with Tom Hardy returning as Eddie Brock/Venom, “an abrasive journalist who comes in contact with an extraterrestrial organism that melds to his body to create the toothy super-powered beast called Venom.”
“Maximum Carnage” bonds with audiences on October 2, 2020.
