I am so excited to tell you guys that Simon Barrett (pictured below right) will be making his feature directorial debut on Seance for Dark Castle Entertainment, HanWay Films and Ingenious Media.
Barrett is a central part of the Bloody Disgusting family having collaborated with Adam Wingard on our A Horrible Way to Die, not to mention both V/H/S and V/H/S/2, the latter of which he directed the film’s wraparound. Barrett also penned The Guest, You’re Next, Blair Witch, and the horror classic Dead Birds.
Set in an all-girls boarding school haunted by a vengeful spirit, the horror film will star Suki Waterhouse (pictured in Hulu’s “Into the Dark’s” New Year, New You; Assassination Nation, The Bad Batch) as Camille, a young woman who arrives at the Fairfield Academy following one of the student’s untimely and violent death. Deadline first reported the news.
Based on a screenplay by Barrett the project is currently in pre-production and will begin to shoot on location in Canada in November. Heads of department include cinematographer Karim Hussain (Random Acts of Violence, Freefire, Hobo with a Shotgun, Antiviral, Parallel, Rupture) and production designer Marlena Feehery (The Iron Orchard). Adam Wingard (Kong vs. Godzilla) executive produces.
