‘Bloodshot’ Has Been Rated PG-13 for “Intense Sequences of Violence”

The official MPAA rating for the Vin Diesel-starring comic book adaptation Bloodshot has arrived this week, confirming that the film’s violence will only be of the PG-13 variety.

Bloodshot has been rated PG-13 for:

“Intense sequences of violence, some suggestive material and language.”

It’s important to note that it seems the plan has long been for Bloodshot to be rated PG-13, as producer Dinesh Shamdasani had explained to the site Comics Beat at NYCC last year.

I don’t think when anyone goes and watches this movie, they’re going to feel that there’s a gear that wasn’t there. There’s some intense stuff in this movie,” Shamdasani told the site this past October. “I can say that personally for me, there’s no regret of, ‘Oh, I wish we had R. We could push it a little further.’ I think this is the movie we intended to make.”

That being said, initial reports about the film way back in early 2018 had noted that Bloodshot would be aiming for an “R” rating. It seems those plans must have changed early on.

Check out a new poster below.

In the film, directed by Dave Wilson

Based on the bestselling comic book, Vin Diesel stars as Ray Garrison, a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero Bloodshot by the RST corporation.  With an army of nanotechnology in his veins, he’s an unstoppable force –stronger than ever and able to heal instantly.  But in controlling his body, the company has sway over his mind and memories, too.  Now, Ray doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not – but he’s on a mission to find out.

Bloodshot will arrive in theaters on March 13, 2020.
