After being pulled from the schedule last fall, Universal Pictures is gearing up for a Friday the 13th of March release of The Hunt, Blumhouse’s latest genre offering that pits a badass Betty Gilpin (“GLOW”) against the elite.
On the surface, the plot looks pretty simple: “Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don’t know they’ve been chosen… for a very specific purpose … The Hunt.”
For those who can’t stand spoilers, you may want to avoid the following international trailer, which organizes the events of the film chronologically and also drops what appears to be a major reveal (as the trailers note, nobody has actually seen the film yet).
The below trailer is very different than the one released here in the States, not only carrying a ton of action-packed new footage, but also showing us that they chose the wrong person to fuck with. Gilpin’s character is not only tough as nails, but clearly in her element. A potential huge reveal shows that she’s one step ahead of the kidnappers and that they’re more than just rich folk looking for a good time. Watch the trailer and see for yourself, if you dare.
The Hunt is written by Damon Lindelof and his fellow “Watchmen” collaborator Nick Cuse and is directed by Craig Zobel (Z for Zachariah, “The Leftovers”).
