Nia DaCosta‘s new take on Clive Barker’s Candyman was originally set to arrive in theaters this summer before being bumped to September 25, 2020, and it’s now been bumped again.
Universal will now unleash Candyman on October 16, 2020, the slot previously occupied by Halloween Kills. That film was bumped all the way to October 2021 earlier today.
It’s interesting that Universal apparently still has faith in theaters being back open for business this Fall, but there’s likely a good chance Candyman will eventually be bumped again.

Candyman comes from producer Jordan Peele, who co-wrote the film with Win Rosenfeld.

Anxious to maintain his status in the Chicago art world, Anthony begins to explore these macabre details in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, unknowingly opening a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and unleashes a terrifyingly viral wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with destiny.”
