The director of Kill List, Sightseers, A Field in England and High-Rise, Ben Wheatley is back this Halloween season with Netflix’s Rebecca (arriving October 21), but that’s not the only movie on the way from Wheatley. The filmmaker, who’s next helming the sequel to Tomb Raider, has revealed in a chat with Little White Lies that he shot a horror film during quarantine!
The untitled film was shot across 15 days, the outlet notes.
Little White Lies reports, “Wheatley describes the film as a response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the result of a datedness that he perceived in the titles released to VOD that couldn’t take the new status quo into account.”
The micro-budget film, presumably, will be cut from a similar cloth as Shudder’s Host, which was also shot with very little money during the ongoing pandemic-fueled quarantine.
